DE PERE — The Fannin Family Singers reunited to help Catholic Charities raise awareness and important funds for our mission at this year’s 10th annual Inspired to Act event held on May 9 at the Marq in De Pere. Kate Fannin and three of her 11 children, Sarah, Monica, and Maria shared their gift of music and united 200+ guests around the mission of strengthening families.
The Fannins, from Hortonville, WI, were previously featured on NBC’s The Sing Off show and continue to share their gift of music at their parish, for weddings, and for charity. The Fannin family and Catholic Charities each highlighted how they put their faith into action, living out their ministries in service and love for Jesus Christ and others. Kate shared with Michele McCormack, WFRV TV 5 anchor and emcee for the evening, before the event, “I think it’s something we’ve been given that we are meant to share, so that’s what we do!”
Michele was joined by Fr. Mark Vander Steeg as a co-emcee for the evening. Fr. Vander Steeg is a long-time family friend of the Fannins. He first met them while serving as pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Greenville and celebrating many of the children’s sacraments, including weddings, for some of the siblings.
For the last 10 years, Catholic Charities has been bringing together the community for this special evening, and it would not be possible without the many volunteers and sponsors. All support raised from this year’s event stays in Northeast Wisconsin and helps fund critical services like school-based mental health counseling in our underserved and rural Catholic schools, housing assistance for newly arrived refugee families, diapers and clothing for families welcoming a new baby, financial health counseling for newly married couples, and so much more!
Catholic Charities continues to seek new and innovative ways to reach people in need throughout the 16 counites of the Diocese of Green Bay. Our goal has been to connect with and serve 10,000 people annually with impactful programs and services – and in 2023, we surpassed that milestone!
