As the Catholic Church, we are called to welcome the stranger and care for our brothers and sisters. This can be challenging, especially in the face of political and social pressures, but it’s a vital part of embodying Christ’s love for all people.
Catholic Charities provides essential resources and joins in partnership with others to nurture a sense of community and belonging for individuals who may otherwise feel isolated or unwelcome. We aim to shepherd them spiritually, assist with gathering information and resources, and continue to advocate for human dignity and family unity.
Through the Immigration Legal Services program at Catholic Charities, we assist United States citizens and immigrant populations who are interested and lawfully eligible to file various applications to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Some of these applications are for naturalization, green cards, family reunification processes, and religious worker visas. This includes assistance with the approximately 33 international priests who are serving within the Diocese of Green Bay.
For over 40 years, we have been working to welcome and integrate immigrants, refugees, and asylees, offering critical services to vulnerable populations. Our services align with both legal and ethical standards and are deeply rooted in Catholic Social Teaching – which emphasizes the importance of protecting human dignity and supporting the marginalized. It’s a source of strength in guiding our work and speaks to our commitment to justice, dignity, and the common good.
Here are a few ways you can join Catholic Charities to help immigrants and refugees during times of uncertainty and make them feel more at home:
Advocate for policies that promote integration while maintaining cultural traditions
Offer practical assistance like cultural education to aid in adjustment or employment search assistance
Volunteer with local literacy agencies and become an English tutor
Foster a welcoming community atmosphere by engaging in open dialogue and opposing discrimination
Catholic Charities services are available to all individuals within the 16 counties of the Diocese of Green Bay regardless background or status. We strive to make all clients feel welcome and let them know they are in a safe place where they can access the following services:
