Father Paul Demuth was born and raised in Manitowoc, the youngest of two children. Ordained a priest in 1968, he has spent most of his priesthood in serving parishes in the Green Bay/De Pere area. He served on the diocesan level in the 1970’s and 80’s as Chairman of the Liturgical Commission, helping to train priests, deacons, and liturgical ministers for roles in the Mass after Vatican II. He also served as Vicar for Ministers for Bishops Zubik and Ricken from 2005 -2010. Since becoming a Senior Priest in 2017, he has served as Sacramental Minister in Kaukauna, the Denmark and Manitowoc area and currently is celebrating Masses at St. Bernard’s in Appleton. He lives at St. John the Evangelist Parish Rectory in downtown Green Bay and is involved in advocacy for the homeless, especially working towards the establishment of Peer Run Housing for people with long term serious mental and AODA issues. During his entire 55 years as a priest, he has listened to untold stories of parishioners and others whom he has encountered before and after Masses, at weddings and funerals, in hospitals and nursing homes and in many hours of counseling.
