The ministry of Catholic Charities is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, which emphasizes every person’s dignity. Like the Good Samaritan, Catholic Charities provides services and care to everyone in need.
The Office of Social Ministry and Community Outreach work to bring the services of Catholic Charities to every corner of the Diocese and to create a network of resources for those in need. Through education, advocacy, collaboration, and communication, we work to address systemic issues contributing to injustice.
Through strategic partnerships, Catholic Charities agencies and local parishes work together to address poverty, promote life and dignity, advocate for change and foster parish social ministry. Catholic Charities agencies assist parishes to care for the poor and vulnerable and work for justice. These strategic collaborations with parishes can greatly increase the impact of Catholic Charities programs and services. Catholic Charities provides educational opportunities for parishes, staff, and parishioners.
As a social service agency, Catholic Charities engages with County Health Initiative Programs to work closely on meeting the needs of the 16 counties of the diocese of Green Bay. We also partner with other agencies to build educational programs, complement the services being provided, and work to strengthen our community.
Disasters knock down a community but should not knock us out. We help when disasters strike. From the Fox Valley tornado to flooding in Shiocton, we have served as a provider and coordinator of disaster relief. We tailor our response to meet individual needs. We provide help. We create hope. As individuals are released from incarceration, the need to navigate the re-entry process to society can be difficult. Catholic Charities provides access to county and city resources and walks with the person.
Care ministry provides an opportunity to walk with individuals that are homebound or in nursing homes. Care ministry also includes caring for those that are being trafficked, are homeless, or have a disability. There are a variety of webinars and resources to help grow your care ministry.
Catholic Charities is dedicated to welcoming, including, and supporting people with disabilities in all aspects of parish and community life. We promote awareness of the needs of persons with disabilities, advocate for policies for inclusion, advocate for individuals seeking help from other agencies, host an Annual Mass for Persons with Disabilities, and support parish ministries for the disabled.
Guided by Catholic social teaching and informed by the direction of the Wisconsin Catholic Conference, Catholic Charities urges policymakers to recognize the needs of the most vulnerable and to adopt measures that support them.
In partnership with Catholic Rural Life, Catholic Charities seeks to promote rural Catholic life in their local area. As a chapter, Catholic Charities is the representatives of Catholic Rural Life to our communities. We share in the vision of flourishing Catholic life in rural America through thriving families, farms, and parishes – centered on faith, community and care of creation. Each spring, Catholic Charities holds a Rural Life Day to promote the rural community.
