Finding out about an unplanned pregnancy often comes as a shock, to the expectant parents as well as their family and close friends. Many expectant parents when faced with an unplanned pregnancy may feel overwhelmed about the thought of becoming parents and are unsure where to turn or what the next steps are.
The best way to support someone with an unplanned pregnancy is simply listening without judgement as they work through decision making process. You can also ask them about their hopes and dreams for themselves and their child. Expectant parents often have a lot to consider in a relatively short period of time. It may be helpful especially in the beginning to assist them in accessing supportive resources and medical care.
If you want to learn about more ways to support someone with an unplanned pregnancy, please contact Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay, please Contact Us.
We are happy to answer questions about our services and the adoption process. Meeting with a Pregnancy Counselor from Catholic Charities does not obligate your loved one to choose adoption. Our Pregnancy Counselors will help expectant parents explore their options and provide support and services whether they choose to parent or create an adoption plan.
