Refugee Support Services

Catholic Charities recognizes that refugee newcomers need additional services and supports after their initial 90 day resettlement period. We offer the following services to assist newcomers up to 5 years after arriving in the United States;

  1. Employment: job search, resume writing, application assistance, interview prep, and help working to reduce barriers to employment (examples: bank accounts, bus training)
  2. Health Promotion: monthly groups on various health topics, individual services for clients who need assistance navigating the health care system (including medical, dental, vision) and/or managing a medical or mental health need.
  3. Other Services- focus on housing and home management services (examples: how to pay bills, securing housing, maintaining housing, being a good renter, home maintenance education, assistance with housing applications)

*These services are available to refugees who were resettled by Catholic Charities, as well as those who moved to Northeastern Wisconsin from other areas of the United States.

Additionally, Catholic Charities offers career development services to anyone who has held refugee status at anytime.

Career development- assistance with career goals and aspirations, connecting client to programs at NWTC or UWGB or other entity for career training, assisting client with pursuing new employment as part of career goals, and reducing barriers to long term career goals (examples: drivers’ education, State of WI-ID, financial assistance with course fees/uniforms/equipment, recognition for previous professional certificates/hs diploma).
